Town Center Theatre (TCT) is a professional, not-for-profit performing arts organization dedicated to providing quality live entertainment and educational theatre to the surrounding community.
Town Center Theatre was originally conceived in 2003 and launched in 2007 by University of St. Thomas alumni Joseph Milillo, Aaron Stryk, and Chris Tennison. Together, they recognized the need for a professional theatre in the South Montgomery County / Woodlands area, which is on its way to becoming one of the most culturally affluent areas in the United States.
After conducting a feasibility study, setting up Town Center Theatre as a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization, and establishing by-laws and selecting a board of directors, Town Center Theatre held its first board meeting in March of 2007, at which time it was concluded that an inaugural season would be scheduled, along with a gala to initiate fundraising for the project. The gala, held in May of 2007, was attended by more than 120 community and business leaders from the area, and set into motion the first season of Town Center Theatre.

Town Center Theatre produced three plays in its inaugural season. The musical Quilters was selected as the first show as TCT's founders drew parallels between the pioneer spirit portrayed in the play and the development of The Woodlands as a community. Playing to rave reviews and standing ovations, Quilters gave Town Center Theatre its first taste of commercial success and set the bar high for future productions, as well as for all professional arts companies that would follow in the area.
Quilters was followed by the regional premiere of Richard Greenberg's play Night and Her Stars, a daring choice for a theatre in its first season, as the title of the play was virtually unknown. However, Night and Her Stars would lend Town Center Theatre an unmatched artistic credibility among new professional theatres and established its reputation as a theatre dedicated to bringing new and challenging works to its audience. A.R. Gurney's comedy Sylvia closed the season in October of 2007.
Currently, Town Center Theatre is producing its second season of shows. The four plays chosen: All in the Timing, Godspell, Julius Caesar, and Merry Christmas, George Bailey are tied together by the theme "From One Small Seed," and reflect the nature of Town Center Theatre's growth from an idea into a fully realized dream: quality professional theatre for the community.
